On Saturday 5th June 2021 from 2pm-4pm we will be getting some more plants in the ground and we would love to have your help!
We are planting a range of species that are Indigenous bush foods and medicines with thanks to the help and support of Elijah Bravington and the Neporendi Aboriginal Forum and a City of Onkaparinga grant that we secured.
This is the second group of plantings that we have put into the reserve since we started the revegetation efforts in 2020. We know that some of the original plantings unfortunately haven't made it through the summer but we are confident that we have learnt more about the soil and conditions and that this stage of plantings will thrive!
So if you are free for the whole 2 hours or even just for a little while please come along and meet up with some of the local neighbours and get your hands dirty (if you want to!)
This is a great opportunity for us to get to know the other people in our local community and to get involved with what is going to be an ongoing project to breathe life back into our big open space, making it a cooler, wilder and more enjoyable space for all of us to enjoy. And the added bonus is that we are improving habitat for our local biodiversity so we are also growing a more enjoyable space for the ecological world as well. Winning!
We are really looking forward to seeing you there. Any questions send us an email to gsrcommunitygroup@gmail.com
