We had a beautiful sunny day on Saturday and thanks to everyone's efforts managed to get all of the plants in the ground with the new compostable seedling guards staked in place to protect them over the coming weeks of settling in and finding their roots. Massive thanks to Leanne Lawrence, our conservation officer from City of Onkaparinga, and to Priah Dean, our community connections officer from City of Onkaparinga. Also thanks to Nikola, and her son, from the City of Onkaparinga for coming along on your weekend to help us plant the seedlings! Special thanks to our local member, David Speirs, and also to our local ward councillor, Michael O'Brien (and his wife Teresa) for spending time meeting our community and getting your hands dirty getting our first family of plants into the ground.
I hope that our seedlings get some of this fantastic rain this week and get settled in and we can watch this space grow. There will be some more planting in the future because we were successful in securing a grant from the council but I'll write a bit more about that later on.
For now just a massive thank you for coming along and all of the hard work in helping to grow our reserve. What an awesome community we have here!
